Abstract: The distribution of human parasitic infections in Hubei Province is reported in this paper. Altogether 49 species of parasites were detected including 16 species of nematodes, 11 species of trematodes, 5 species of cestodes and 17 species of protozoa. Among which 13 species were rarely found in Hubei, namely, Dioctophyma renale, Rhabditella axei, Gongylonema pulchrum,Rhabditis sp., Gordius sp. Fasciola hepatica, Echinochasmus perfoliatus, Heterophyes heterophyes, Metagonimus yokogawai,Opisthorchis felineus, Sparganum mansoni, Hymenolepis diminuta and Chilomastix mesnili. The documented important parasitic diseases in Hubei are schistosomiasis, malaria, hookworm disease, trichuriasis, ascariasis and enterobiasis. Children and juveniles are most readily affected. The prevalence of parasitic infections is related to natural and social factors, such as topography, climate, environmental sanitation, as well as age, occupation and habit of inhabitants.
