Abstract: According to the procedures and methodology stipulated in the Nationwide Survey of Human Parasite Distribution, an investigation on intestinal nematode infections was conduc ted in Henan Province. Of the people examined in 164 pilot sites, 48134(56.3%) were found to be parasitized by intestinal nematodes. The respective infection rate for different species was recorded as: Ascaris lumbricoides 41.4%, hookworm 20.7%, Trichuris trichiura 8.2%, Trichostrongylus orientalis 0.01%, Strongyloides stercoralis 0.03%, a case of Oesophagostomum sp. infection. As a whole, ascarid and hookworm were the essential species contribu ting to intestinal helminthic parasitoses in Henan; the former mostly affected younger population below 15 years old; while the latter, predominantly parasitized in those above 16 years of age.
