Abstract:

Foodborne parasites are an important factor affecting food safety, and the resulting foodborne parasitic diseases have become a serious threat to human health. In order to effectively prevent the infections and transmission of foodborne parasites, and to protect food and public dietary safety, effective tools for detection of foodborne parasitic infection are essential. Currently, detection of foodborne parasites primarily depends on pathogenic methods, which suffer problems of time-consuming and labor-intensive procedures, and high requirement of personnel professionalism and detection sites, resulting in limitations in application scenarios. Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) is convenient, highly efficient, and has no excessive dependence on equipment in relative to parasitological techniques, which has been widely used for nucleic acid detection of bacteria, viruses and parasites. This article summarized the principle of LAMP assay and its application in the detection of common foodborne parasites and proposes the development trend of LAMP assay in detection of foodborne parasites.
