Proposed Chinese Name of Pomacea canaliculata

Abstract

Abstract: The way to translate species name of Pomacea canaliculata into Chinese has been of confusion for a long time. We collected the relevant references on investigations of snail， species similar to Pomacea canaliculata and made comparison on the characteristics of those species which serve as intermediate snail host of Angiostrongylus cantonensis. It is proposed the genus name of Pomacea is translated as “福寿螺属”， and species name Pomacea canaliculata be “小管福寿螺”。
