Abstract: AIM: To identify Leishmania isolates in Phlebotomus (P.major wui) and cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) patients from,Karamay, Xinjiang . METHOD:Study on the characterization and genotype of Leishmania isolates from the sandflies, CL patients and the reference strain by analysing simultaneouly kinetoplast and chromosonal DNA. RESULTS: The nDNA genotype analysis showed that isolates from the sandflies, CL patients and Leishmania infantum are highly homologous. CONCLUSION: Leishmania infantum is the pathogen of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Karamay, Xinjiang, and P.major wui, the vector of this disease.
