PARASITIC INFECTIONS IN MINHE HUI AND TU AUTONOMOUS COUNTY, QINGHAI PROVICE

Abstract: Abstract Minhe Hui and Tu Autonomous County situated in the eastmost of Qinghai is known as a place with fine topographical and metereological conditions in the province. A survey of parasitic infections was undertaken in 1 020 local residents; consequently,675 (66.2%) persons were found to infect with parasites belonging to 9 species, i.e. Entamoeba histolytica 3.6% , Giardia lamblia 5.2%, Trichomonas hominis 17.9%, Entamoeba coli 12.9%, Endolimax nana 4.9%, Ascaris lumbricoides 50.2%, Enterobius vermicularis (below 12 years old) 27.6%, Trichuris trichiura 0.4% and Blastocystis hominis 0.1%.Polyparasitism was showed in 41.6% of the infected people. Judging by EPG, mild and moderate infections accounted for 54.9% and 41.0% of the infected people, respectively. Health education focused on pre school children and pupils and improvement of environmental sanitation were deemed important to control parasitic infections in the county.
