A SAMPLING SURVEY OF HUMAN PARASITE DISTRIBUTION IN JINGDEZHEN CITY, JIANGXI PROVINCE

Abstract: According to the unified programme of the “Nationwide Survey of Human Parasite Distribution”, an investigation on 2 068 persons residing in 10 natural villages in Jingdezhen was executed in 1988 by random sampling. Fourteen species of human parasites were detected, the infection rate was as high as 87.5% (1 810/2 068). Polyparasitism was revealed in 32.5% of the infected persons. Jingdezhen was also disclosed to be an endemic area of Paragonimus westermani . The survey showed that parasitic infections in humans are very common at the locality.
