A SURVEY OF HUMAN PARASITES IN HILL AND MOUNTAIN AREAS OF SOUTH HENAN

Abstract: Human intestinal parasite investigations were carried out in Huangchuan, Huaibin, Luoshan and Tongbai counties of hill and mountain areas in Southern part of Henan Province. A total of 8 882 randomly selected population were under fecal examination, among which 6 065 were positive, the positive rate being 68.3%. There were 19 species of intestinal parasites discovered during the survey, including 7 species of nematodes ( Ascaris lumbricoides, Enterobius vermicularis, Trichuris trichiura, Strongyloides stercoralis, Oesophagostomum sp. Ancylostoma duodenale, Necator americanus ), one species of taenia ( Hymenoloepis nana ), 3 species of trematodes ( Clonorchis sinensis, Fasciola hepatica, Fasciolopsis buski ) and 8 species of protozoa ( Entamoeba histolytica, Entamoeba coli, Entamoeba hartmanni, Endolimax nana, Iodamoeba buetschlii, Blastocystis hominis, Giardia lamblia and Chilomastix mesnili. )
