Abstract: This report analyses the status of intestinal parasite infections in 1 387 rural children from 1 to 6 years old in 15 places in 5 counties/cities sampled from the whole province. The result shows that the total parasite infection rate is 89.2%. Altogether 23 species of parasite including 10 species of nematodes, 8 species of protozoa, 4 species of trematodes and 1 species of cestodes were discovered. The prevalence of ascarid, Trichuris trichiura , hookworm and Enterobius vermicularis were higher than other parasites, showing infection rates of 67.1%, 58.7%, 29.0% and 33.4%, respectively. Infection rates of Giardia lamblia and Strongyloides stercoralis were low, being 8.2% and 2.6%, respectively. Of the infected persons, polyparasitism rate and those with more than 3 species accounted for 74.2% and 37.1%, respectively. Intestinal parasite infections in rural children from 1 to 6 years old in situ showed a wild distribution and noteworthy situation.
