Abstract: With the increase of sugarcane eating, the number of children with symptoms of cough and asthma was elevated in the proper of Lianjiang County. The result of a survey disclosed that the morbidity was due to eating unpeeled sugarcane which had been contaminated by numerous infective Ascaris eggs. The infection rate in children under 15 years old was 48.3% and the contamination rate of sugarcane and soil were 64% and 100%, respectively. Most of the examined Ascaris eggs were at the infective stage. Expelling of mature and immature ascarids after administration of antihel-mintics was not uncommon.
