    The 2020 working conference of the Fifth Editorial Board of Chinese Journal of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases was successfully held in Shanghai
  • In order to improve the academic level and publishing quality, and jointly plan for the future development of the journal, the editorial board of Chinese Journal of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases held the “2020 working conference of the Fifth Editorial Board” in a way of combining offline and online in Shanghai on October 23, 2020. A total of 85 participants attended the meeting (35 people attended the meeting online) , including Zhou Xiaonong, director of Institute of parasitic disease prevention and control, China Center for Disease Control and Prevention and researchers, Tang Linhua, consultant of editorial board (former editor in chief) and researchers, Cao Jianping, editor in chief and researchers, Li Shizhu, Wang Tianping, Hu Wei, Su Chuan, Cheng xunjia, deputy editors in chief and professors / researchers, other members of editorial board and newly recruited young representatives of editorial board. The meeting was presided over by Cao Jianping.

    At the opening ceremony, director Zhou Xiaonong delivered an opening speech, in which he affirmed the achievements of Chinese Journal of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases, and put forward ardent hope for the future development of the journal. He hoped that the participating editorial board members and young editorial board members would make joint efforts to publish excellent papers on the motherland, and seize the opportunity with the guidance of needs, problems and goals in combination with the formulation of the 14th five year plan. It will promote the development of journals to a higher level and contribute to the development of parasitology. Consultant Tang Linhua also made an important speech. He reviewed the development process of the journal and stressed that the development of the journal is inseparable from the joint efforts of everyone. The achievements are the result of the joint efforts of all previous editorial boards. He hoped that with the joint efforts of members of this editorial board, the journal will become better and become a first-class and internationally influential excellent journal in China in the future. It provides an important platform for academic exchanges. Cao Jianping, editor in chief, made a "journal work report 2018-2020" for the participating editorial board experts, summarized the publication situation and achievements of journals since the establishment of the Fifth Editorial Board, and analyzed the existing problems.

    According to the current problems of the journal and the epidemic situation of COVID-19, the editorial board members at the meeting had a heated discussion on how to better develop the journal Chinese Journal of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases. The participating editorial board members agreed that they should give full play to the role of editorial board members and young editorial board members, and actively review and recommend high-quality manuscripts for journals. In order to enhance the readers' attention to the journal, we should organize a series of reports on hot topics, attract high-quality manuscript sources through multiple channels, invite experts in the field (including newly returned researchers) to write reviews or special reviews. Innovative research papers can be published quickly through the "green channel" to attract high-quality manuscript sources. We should write English abstracts and encourage the full-text publication of innovative research papers in English, so as to promote the communication with international peers and enhance the international influence of journals. To improve the display of journals, we should make brochures or short videos of journals, and encourage editorial board members to carry out publicity and promotion in various academic conferences at home and abroad. By holding training courses on Chinese paper writing, the writing ability of grass-roots authors (especially those in remote areas) can be improved. To further shorten the turnover time of manuscript processing and improve the timeliness of research results reporting, etc.

    The meeting also announced the list of newly appointed international and young editorial board members, and issued certificates to the representatives of the young editorial board members attending the meeting.

    Finally, Cao Jianping, chief editor of the conference, summarized the conference and put forward the hope and requirements for the future work of the Fifth Editorial Board and the editorial department. He hoped that the editorial board members would continue to give advice and suggestions for the development of the journal and contribute to continuously improving the academic level and influence of the journal.
