Abstract: A survey on epidemiology of hydatid disease was conducted ia Tianzhu Zatig Autonomous County, Gansu Province. History enquiry, intradermal test, indirect hemag-glutination test and ELISA were the screening methods to be applied. Those who were postitive for 2 of the sero-diagnostic methods would experience thorax X-ray and Type B-ultrasonographic examinations to confirm the diagnosis. A township-based study showed that 35 out of 461 persons in Bailin, 19 of 767 in Qianbao and 17 of 710 in Xi-datan harboured parasites, with infection rates of 7.6%, 2.6% and 2.4% respectively, while the morbidity were 3%, 1.4% and 1.4% respectively. Statistical analysis revealed significant difference in infection rate between pastoral area of Bailin township and the semi-pastoral and semiagricultural area of Qianbo and Xidatan townships (x2 = . 264 692, P0.001). However, there was no significant difference in the morbidity between the two sorts of foci (x2 = 5.1693, P0.05).
