Abstract: A survey of prevalence of paragonimiasis was performed in five counties and one municipality which were located in the northeast and south part of Jiangxi Province. The results proved that Guixi county was a mixed endemic area of Paragonimus wester-mani, P. skrjabini and EuParagonimus cenocopiosus, while Yiyang county was a mixed endemic area of P. westermani and E. cenocopiosus- It was also found that Jingdezhen, Anyuan and Shangyou were endemic areas of P. westermani- The positive rate of in-tradermal test with adult worms antigen in local inhabitants ranged from 7-15.9%. Of 629 crabs examined, 189 were found to be infected with metacercariae, the infective rate of crabs from the northeast Jiangxi was higher than that from the south Jiangxi. A more extensive dissemination of paragonimiasis in the province was evidenced in this survey as compared with the previous findings.
