Abstract: This paper reports on the hepatic pathological changes in 106 clinically diagnosed advanced schistosomiasis japonica cases from 1977-1981 in our hospital. The specimens were obtained from liver biopsy during surgical operation. After pathological examination, 67 cases (63.2%) were classified as cirrhosis of simple schistosomiasis and 39 cases (36.8%) as cirrhosis of scfeistosomiasis complicated with viral hepatitis. The authors described in detail about the pathological morphology of the above two types of cirrhosis and suggested to have liver biopsy during splenectomy of the patients in order to make accurate diagnosis and give corresponding effective therapy.
