SURVEY OF PARASITE INFECTIONS IN URBAN AND RURAL POPULATION IN HARBIN, HEILONGJIANG PROVINCE

Abstract: According to the unified method formulated by the nationwide human parasite investigation program, a survey of human parasites was conducted in the suburbs and a residential quarter of Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. The inhabitants subjected to the survey amounted to 2626, and 471 were revealed to harbour parasites with an infection rate of 18.7%. Ten species of human parasite were found during the survey, namely, Clonorchis sinensis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Enterobius vermicularis, Trichuris trichiura, Taenia, Entamoeba coli, Entamoeba histolytica, Endolimax Mono, Giurdia lamblia, Blastocystis hominis, showing infection rates of 8.8%, 6.6%, 7.1%, 0.9%, 0.04%, 0.04%, 0.1%, 0.04%, 0.2% and 1.2%, respectively. The prevalence of C. sinensis infection was more markedly higher in Korea minority, in inhabitants above 15 years old and in rural residents,as compared with that in Han nationality, in children under 16 years old and iu urban residents.
