摘要: Although many researches on hatching of schistosome eggs have been done so far,the mech-anism of hatching remains to be clarified.Recently Matsuda et al.(1983)reported that praziquantel(PZQ)stimulated S.japonicum eggs to hatch, even when eggs were kept in high osmotic pressure. The initial effect of PZQ On the schistosome is reported to be an interaction of the drug with lipidconstituents of the tegumental membrane.which then allows calcium ions to enter. The mode ofaction of PZQ encouraged us to study possible involvement of calcium ion and calmodulin(calciumbinding protein)in hatching of schistosome eggs.
